Anyone Experiencing such???

Recently, I changed my stock 17" amg wheels to 18" 2 pcs wheels for my 2002 CLK430. Tire sizes were also increased from 225/45/R17 to 235/40/R18 Front and 245/40/R17 to 265/35/R18 (Rear). As I am driving recently, I feel that the car was not accelerating as fast as before. Especially at first gear, I don't feel the kick anymore. Does anyone experiencing the same effect after going with wider tires and rims???

Bigger wheels, which in turn are heavy add to the rotational mass of the wheels/tires. However, I dont think that a +1 increase should make a huge difference, shouldnt even be noticeable on the CLK. A difference is usually noticed when you to +2 or +3. Maybe your just imaginig it.

Turbo2 is right, a +1 increase should not change the weight too much. Unless, you got something like a 2piece Brabus Mono Vs, which are like bricks... then it may explain some of the lag.

I have changed my rim from 7.5" to 8.5" Front and 8.5" to 10" Rear. Is that reason why I have that feeling the car is picking up as fast as before??

No longer car shopping...
size no matter

what is the make/model of the new wheels? Did you change from lightweight to heavyweight wheels? The 265's should provide more traction but would have fit just as well on 9.5" rims. The 10's weigh more. Why did you go with 10's? when 265/275 is as big as you could go width wise?

Hi guys, since you guys are talking about the wheels upgrade, I just thought I would ask this question.

my car is a 2002 CLK 430. do you know the width of the stock rims? I have a set of Brabus Mono V 19" multipiece and if I put them on my car, would my car be much slower?

mass of each Brabus wheel (no tires) is around 30lbs.

Thanks,

Solihin

The 2002 CLK430 Stock Rim width should be 7.5" Front and 8.5" Rear.
