Valentine 1 Lighter Adapter Size Problem?

I have been using a Valentine 1 radar detector for several years with a CLK55. Several months ago, I replaced the uncoiled power cord with the colied cord. Since then, the power adapter sometimes works it way out of the ligher jack, and powers off the detector. Not a good thing.

It appears that the MB lighter jack is bigger than other cars. With the uncoiled power cord, I did not have a problem, but with the added tension of the coiled cord, size seems to make a difference.

Volvo seems to also have a bigger jack.

I communicated with Valentine, and they suggested I use a "2 to 1" adapter.

Has anyone experienced the size problem, and come up with a solution?

The easiest solution, for me, is to get another uncoiled cord.

BTW, the radar detector works great..... When the power is applied.

The accessories plug is a pain.
I hate cables and dangling wires so I hard wired mine in. It’s very easy to do.
Now I never have a problem. I bought additional installation kits from V1 that way I can transport my V1 to any vehicle. Then I would forget the V1 in the other car, so I bought one for every car.

I have installation instructions if your interested.

Mike... if your preference is to use the cigarette lighter, there is an 'insert/adapter' that corrects the problem you are having. It basically acts as a shimmy for the socket, so the plug will fit in there tighter.

Check on the web somewhere, i'm sure they are readily available.

Go to your local cell-phone store and ask if they have any adapters for the larger cig lighter socket found on some European cars. It is sold with some cig. lighter car adapters for cell-phones.
