fan clutch

I have reason to believe that my fan clutch needs to be replaced. Does anyone know where I can get the tool to remove the fan?

Haha.. i know what you mean. I just did mine a week ago and had to dig for a tool to work. I ended up using a strainer basket wrench and a open end wrench. Not the correct tool I know but worked fine for me.

I removed my fan using the FORD fan/clutch removal tools.

I borrowed a set from AutoZone...
I originally found out about these tools from using a forum search..
36mm and the FORD removal tools worked PERFECTLY on my Benz!

For the nut I believe I used an 1 3/8" open end. To hold the pully in place I used the strainer basket wrench. Its designed for approx a 4" nut but you can use to to bind on the bolts holding the pully. I already had the tools but if you could rent the correct tools, that may work better for you.

interesting that the ford removal tool worked, if anything i would have bet on the chrysler unless they are the same size then i suppose it wouldnt matter.

thanks for the responses. I will go into the garage with an open beer and stare at it for a couple hours before doing anything else

Yeah.. the toughest part is holding the water pump pulling steady to turn the nut holding the clutch
