EZ-Pass Users?

I am about to mount an EZ-Pass transponder. Does it work if directly behind the blacked-out portion of the windshield or should I mount it below that on the clear glass portion? Thanks.

EZ Pass

I hate having it mounted so I have it in the compartment and take it out every time I go through the tolls. Most people I've seen have it in the clear part, but here is what you should do:
Next time you go through the tolls, hold it under the black part of the windshield. If the gate opens, then you are OK and it can pick up the signal through there. If not, put it in the clear part.

2004 Maserati Coupe
I had mine mounted on the clear part. I removed it pretty frequently so this placement was convenient. I would try nickm's suggestion.

I agree, I hate having them mounted. I have 2 (1 for MD, 1 for VA) and just take them out everytime I need one. They will however work if you mount them to the black part. The only problem they have is some of the Benz's have some kind of tint or film in the newer models that cause some problems. Other than that you can put them anywhere. You can also mount them to the outside bumper but it is easily stolen that way.

black part here

I have it mounted on the black part behind the rearview mirror on the passenger side. Works great. Doesn't show from the outside. And barely noticeable inside.

Thumbs up.

I have it mounted exactly where Safet has his... instead of using the sticky mounting thing they give you, i bought a holder with suction cups so you can move it whereever you want. You still cant see it from the outside. I got mine at a local car wash for like 5 bucks.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try it on the black-out part of the windshield.

On an unrelated note, Ebrigham, how do you like that Maserati compared to the CLK? I tried it but wasn't impressed enough to want one. How long have you had it and how reliable has it been? I guess more importantly, do you miss your CLK?
