HELP Removing shifter unit from clk 320 2001

I need u guys to help me , ive spilt something on the shifter in the clk and now im stuck in park but i can release it with the release button but im also in LIMP mode 1st or 2nd gear. i want to remove the shifter so i can try cleaning it first before buying one because there expencive here in the UK £338+VAT just for the shifter unit.

So my plan is to try and remove it and give it a good clean with some contact cleaner let it dry and put it back together and see how i go.. if it fails i will have to buy one but also would prefer to fit it myself to save some £££

Any HELP from u guys would be great..

You can try anything, but the odds of your idea helping here are low. This is not a unit that lends itself to disassembly and reassembly. Most importantly it likely isnt contacts inside you damaged, its electronics. All the cleaning in the world wont repair a transistor or diode that is smoked.

Spilled liquids can provide enough conductivity to short circuits together, which are not intended to be, and as a result, components are fried. Sometimes, the liquid and remaining residue is only resistive enough to muck up the circuit operation and cleaning corrects the problem.

This frequently occurs with spills on computer keyboards. Do a search on cleaning keyboards to find a recommended/successful method of cleaning.

While the odds are not in your favor, I would try cleaning before purchasing a new circuit module.
