Blinking Door Mirrors
I have a 99 CLK430 and want to add the new blinking door mirrors, where can I get them?

I found a mechanic will do it for $1000
Includes:
Mirror Cover
Blinking Lights
Wiring
Labour

Is it too high ?

Much too high.

He can get them for you for much cheaper. Installation will be on you, but shouldn't be too hard to find someone to do it. I know people in the Bay Area that do it for $100, this includes wiring, etc. Taking the doors and wiring gutters apart isn't necessarily a job for the faint hearted.

Actually, for $1000 I could get the parts, fly out to New York, do the job, and spend the day there and have some cash left over. Unless your car is some off color and the covers would need painting, which would add about $100.

And if I did it, at least it would be someone who did it before and knows Mercedes.

I bet for $1000 Steve would actually do it too, and you'd have an even better mechanic.

guess what i saw at the local dealers today?

a ridiculously chromed up side mirror. I mean the whole freakin thing with the intergrated blinker. It looked so stupid!

what was even more stupid was the price tag

1500 dollars!!!!

Just got my www.performanceproducts.com mercedes catalog, right there are those mirrors from "Schatz" for almost every MB for $119. What they are, is a plastic chromed cover for the mirror, not the whole unit. Your dealer is ripping off everyboby!

Mirror Housing w/ Lights

$334 for the set, Painted

Door harnesses
208 540 58 06
$279 for the set of both doors

$613 Total Parts plus Labour = $800~$1000
