Query for those with faulty Instrument Clusters
I have been having trouble with the power (battery) in my car, and I have noticed that when I don't drive my CLK for a Week I lose more digits on the display, but if I drive it everyday then they all come back. I suspect it is just a power issue, but wanted to find out if anyone who had it replaced or have the problem had any power problems before or after they noticed the cluster going funny?

Youknow what would be really cool?
If you were to drive and the mileage digits would disappear ONE BY ONE for eveeeeerrrrrrr!
Can you imagine how much a 1999 CLK430 with zero mileage would fetch?

.........We discussed this on an ealier post and I informed you that I had my cluster changed for the same reason.....truncated digits. Yes, like was said in that post.....the truncated digits can appear and re-appear. No it has nothing to do with the power. Rather, the degree of truncation seems to be inversely related to how warm your engine is. It will continue to drive you crazy because you will find so many other seemng correlations. The only solution is to change your cluster.
