Wheel Clearcoat Flaking
The clearcoat on the outer section of the rear AMG wheel on my '00 CLK430 has flaked a bit. Does anyone know what procedure I can use to fix this?

It is an easy, if not cheap, fix ...
The machine used at my first tire change caused the same thing on both of my rears. The tire shop paid for new clear coat at another shop (Wheel Techniques in Campbell, CA -- good people). It cost $190 per wheel, and takes a few days. The new coating has to be baked on.
Some places remove the rest of the clearcoat by cutting on a lathe. That also removes rim metal, and after one or two rounds you have to replace the wheel if there is any further damage. If you are keeping the car insist on sandblasting or chemical removal.
