Hey fellas,
How much do you think a '99 430 coupe will be worth in Oct. or Nov. of 2004? Let's assume mileage will be around 65K.
Also, does anyone have any information on depreciation on our cars??

Not much -- a little pocket change, plus...:
$10k to 14k ... unfortunately.

holy smokes... that is scary... for that amount, i'd say, just keep the darn thing... have some fun with it. gosh... those numbers are a little depressing... but then again, i don't like KBB too much...

Trade-In: $27,810
Private Party: $30,335
Dealer Retail: $33,103
I'm guessing, add another year & 15,000 more miles, about another $2K in depreciation. Thats my guess...

Dealers do NOT go by kelly
Dealers go by the "Black Book" or the Galves listings. They only tell un-educated consumer's they go by KBB because KBB screws the consumer. Galves is a subscription service.

Everytime a new body style comes out the older style takes a large hit...look at the last gen SL's...I have seen some SL500's sell on ebay with low miles in the $30K range. If you know your model is being replaced, sell the car before it reaches the dealerships. I am trying to sell my SLK now before its replaced next year becuase I know I will see a resale hit.

To suggest that MB dealers use the Black Book rather than the KBB is laughable!
A dealer uses any tool he/she can for the uninitiated in the "Art of Negotiation" in order to set the hook and to close a deal.
