Swapping Cab and Non-Cab Trunks..

All -

Has anyone ever thought of swapping your CLK trunk with a CLK Cab trunk? The reason for this is that the 3rd brake light is on the trunk on the Cab. As I noticed all the new mercedes have their 3rd light on the trunk, and I personally think its looks cooler. Are the trunks interchangable?

Thanks,
Rob

Aren't they different sizes? If they are the same size, and use the same mounting points, it should work.

They seem....

to look like they are the same size... but I cant tell because I don't know anyone with a Cab to match up. I think this swap would be cool.

I think the trunk on the cab is shorter.

CLK cab

The best bet is to find a CLK cab that's been in a wreck and get the trunk off of it. You might be able to snag one for about 500$

Just ask the dealer about their dimensions. They should know right?

I believe they are different sizes. I know that on the older w124 e-class, the cab trunk lid is shorter than the coupe. The cab trunk lid is shorter so that the door that hides the compartment for the top and the top itself have some place to go, so i'd assume there is a similar setup on the w208, but I am not 100% sure.
