CLK 430 - Intermittent non-start issue

My ’01 CLK 430 with 93k miles on it on occasion won’t start, then when tried again later, the car starts up just fine and will drive for several days without a problem. Battery is fine, the car turns over, and it doesn’t appear to be the starter as the normal high pitched squeal of a failing starter isn’t occurring. Seems like an electronic or sensor issue. Problem started occurring a few months ago. I know these cars have a bunch of sensors and am wondering if a faulty sensor could be the problem.

Also, occasionally, the check engine light (CEL) comes on, but I haven’t checked the code. How do I locate the code on the dash (Don't have the owner's manual)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it tend to start up fine when cold, and shut off when warm? If so, 99% it's the crank position sensor. Remove and replace.

Also, OBDII port is underneath a plastic panel on the steering wheel column.

Thanks, Twinsin. It either starts or doesn't start whether it's hot or cold. Once it starts, it doesn't shut off - it runs just fine. Where's the crank position sensor? Might as well swap it out to rule it out.
