Key fob question.

Key fob question.
Hi guys,
I am so happy with my new ride![drive](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/driving.gif)
But not with my key, even though it is working just fine, it is all beat up, not very attractive.
I've seen my friend's chrome key looking very sexxxy, mine is old plastic type.
The dealer here wants $325
for the chrome key, too much $$$$!
Can you guys recommend a source where I can get it for less, much less.
Thanks!

Sorry you have to get it from the dealer only as it has to be programmed to your car. You'll see them on eBay and other sources but they WILL not work. I bought one recently and it cost $204.00 and it was the newer looking key

He's correct, these keys are around $205-$225 max from the dealer. $325 is too much. Or you can buy the plastic housing from eBay and swap the board. There's diy instruction somewhere here.

Yeah. It sounds like you may even have a valet key. I was lucky. When I got my 430 it came with 2 chrome keys and a beat up plastic one that I was told is a valet
Key. I'm not sure what that means but needless to say I don't use it

That it true u can get one off of ebay and switch the board out.there's also a diy on upgrading to a newer chrome key by switching the chip from your older one to the newer one.if u just want to get a newer plastic one switching the board is very easy.take your little key out and use that to open up the fob so u can gain access to the battery.take that out and ull see the board.there's a white piece that's used a spacer.if u take that out the board will easily slide out.

99CLK320,
Wait a minute. There was a dealer out of Chicago that was selling the chrome key for well under 2 bills. Do a Search and you should be able to find it or, do a google search for Chicago MB dealers and call them or shoot and email out.
