94 clk 320???

I was at the wheel shop getting one of my rims straightened thanks to one of the million potholes in nyc that I didnt get a chance to swirv from.

So this dude with a light blue(painted) sc400 comes up to me and compliments me on my car and says he use to have one. He assumed it was a clk 320 since my letters are shaved and I said no its a 430. He said oh i had a 94 clk 320. SO i looked at him like
..... I said I thought 98 was the first year for the clk320, 99 for th4e 430 and 2000 for the 55. To top it off he said he bought it hit and fixed it up.

He said and I quote " thats what most people who dont know about cars think but they made it in 94" I was like wow I really didnt know that and im pretty up to date. He said it was a common mistake.

I said nice lexus though and just walked away.

Now am I stupid or am I stupid?
Is there a 94 clk 320? or clk of any sort?

To answer your questions, in order, no, no, and no, not in 1994. I know how you feel, I have heard some pretty amazing things over the years. Before owning a Mercedes I owned BMW's, and my favorite moment was when an individual tried to convince me that BMW's were designed by a blind man. I then pointed out that they were, in fact being designed by Chris Bangle, the first American to head design at BMW. Needless to say, it is pointless to waste your time arguing with an idiot.

i believe what he 'may' have been referring to was the '94 300E coupe/convertible, which is technically where the CLK originated from...

its just that from '98 on, they decided to branch out and create their own line.

next time if you see the guy, you know how to answer him, and tell him how 'smart' he is......

isnt 94 the year they came out in europe?

I am not sure if it was the c class platform that the clk is based on or the actual clk that came out in europe in 94?

i dont get it and i dont think i ever will either...

i personally will always stick to the ideas that..

CL is the coupe version of S
CLK is the coupe version of E
since the C class has a coupe (hatchback) version anyways.
SLK and SL's are roadsters.
A class is the family compact car.
ML are i believe what they call SUV's. correct me if i'm wrong.
and finally the G class is the heavy duty offroader.

even the new clk and the new E class have a similar body structure.
i dont understand when people say it looks like a C class. if you look at the new E and the New CLK side by side the body is very similar, except for the front end which looks like the SL

anyways back to disscussion, the clks starting in 98 i think
