How remove ball joint past the rotor's dust shield ???

ball joint - How remove ball joint past the rotor's dust shield ?

Have gotten ball joint loose, but there doesn't seem to be enough room to get the ball joint out. It looks like I need to remove the rotor, to remove the shield, to remove the lose ball joint. I hope this is not another MB silly design issue.

Has anyone done this ?
How do I get this lose ball joint out ?

Thanks.

I dont remember anything specific on the procedure but I do remember leaving the rotor, caliper, and dust shield in place. The vertical mount was cake but the horizontal was frozen and needed much love to encourage it's removal! Im sure Keyhole can hook you up with a WIS diagram.
