Alignment necessary after swapping steering gear box?

Steering gearbox swap was a success. I had a lot of play on my previous gearbox, I would constantly have to countersteer to keep the car going straight, car would always pull to the right, and it would make knocking sounds when I would move the steering wheel back and forth.
After the swap my steering is tight again and does not take a lot of effort to keep the car driving straight. I definitely recommend doing a gearbox swap if you are having loose steering and have replaced other parts such as lower control arms, steering shock, etc without much of a difference.
