Problems starting car

I own a 2002 CLK 320
Havent had any problems with it and it has always been serviced when needed. Recently at times it will just not start. It cranks normally but just wont turn over. Its not like a dead battery where it doesnt even crank. After letting it sit for a while and continuously trying also it eventually starts. Happened yesterday went away and then came back today. Also when it doesnt start the Check engine light comes on but if its starting the right way the check engine light stays off.

Any ideas what this could be?

Sounds like a Crank Position Sensor (CPS) do a search and you'll see literally a ton of threads on it. Relatively simple and common problem w/ MB's

2000 Mercedes CLK320
I had the same exact problem, mine turned out to be the computer that reads the laser key. It was fried and caused intermittent start problems. Not sure why but it happened more in the winter, and whenever i got gas. replacing the part the car works perfectly..cost 900 though
