What's the best value ECU upgrade?

I want to upgrade the ECU in my clk 430. I'm looking to spend around $1000. What chip in that price range has a nice balance of power and reliability?

Hard call because no one has done a before and after dyno to prove the performance gains that the companies claim. Just everyone states they are satisfied with what they got.

I'm satisfied with my PowerChip/Flash ECU mod.

99CLK320,
I recommend you look at each of the flasher's websites like Powerchip, INMotionusa, Speedtuning etc., etc. There are many out there. And, see who promises what and for how much. Don't settle for those $49.99 soldered on chips. The real flash tuners are all going to promise improvements in hrspwr and torque for X amount of dollars. Try to find testimonials and pick one. I chose INMotion when they first hit the US from Austria for a promo price of around $200 and I was pleased with the results. I have nothing to compare it to. You will feel the difference no matter who you go with but like Jimmy said, you won't really know exactly where you end up unless you are willing to spend the money and do a before and after dyno. Or you can find a shop that will do a custom tune over a flash(pre-determined settings based on the octane fuel you use on a regular basis) but you will probably eat up that grand in a hurry. Good luck!
