i have an 02 clk430 with bad engine i was wondering if 00-02 S430 engine is the same/would work as a replacment for that engine, i though they were the same engine but the output on the clk430 is higher according to Wikipedia
also does anyone know what other models engine would work on the clk430?

dont quote me... I think you would need to swap oil pans but I believe the blocks are the same. Wikipedia is not very reliable for ref. but exhaust and ecm would be my guess for the different rating

all the 430 engines are the same, and just like Bobby said you may have to change the oil pan but all the different 430 oil pans fit each other as the mounting is the exact same just the bottom of the pans are different for different models. the only difference would be the the canbuses on the engine harness depending on the year of the car the engine came from, but not to worry because if it was different than yours you simply take your harness of your engine and remove the manifold on the new engine and plug it right in. The canbuses are different on the end that the harness plugs into the ECU but on the engine side they are the same. Also keep inmind if you want a bit more power you can do a 500 swap which will also be a direct plug and play as well and your existing trans and ecu will work just fine with it. Hope the book that i just wrote helped. haha

lol, thanks man, its actually very easy to do the swap if you have all the parts, the hard part is that mine didnt come with the tiptronics so i'm converting to the tiptronics and speed paddle shift retrofit, so figuring out the wiring is the hard part specially when you dont have a diagram to scomatics. but the rest is all plug and play becaue the 320,430 and the 55 are identical on the mounting points and everythingelse just the removeable parts are different such as the diff, drive shaft(only different for the 55 4 bolt flex discs) trans and the two computers. even the ecu is the same for the 430 and 55 and can just be reprogrammed, but since mine is a 320 i had to get all that stuff seperate and belive me with paitence and time spend researching you can get the parts for a very good price.
