I knew about the parking break bypass but didn't think about that when thinking about hooking up the parking break wire, duh. Not using a camera at this time so I don't have to worry about any of that then. Nice.

Just need to bypass the parking break and hook up the wire to cig adapter. Nice.

I just need to do a little more research on where to run my mic and i want to run my usb cable down to my center armrest

sorry to bug you guys again, I am/was about to install new stereo.

jonUF02, did you have to manually run the cables from the stereo to the sub in the trunk? From your earlier post and others i read elsewhere, I thought there was already rca's when i pull the current stereo out but there are none.

Got stereo installed. Going to go back and do the subs. I miss them already.

Thanks for all the info!

sorry, I'm not getting email updates on this thread any more for some reason. I ran 3 pairs of RCAs when I installed the stereo because I had them and I might put in other amps later. Power for a sub is easy with battery in the trunk. I took out the passenger and rear seat, the rear bottom is tricky, there is a hidden button near each front corner, you have to push in on the seat cushioning and it will pop loose eventually.

No problem. Thanks for the reply! I found another thread that had instructions.

Loving the stereo. I am going to finish up with the steering wheel controls and sub in a couple of weeks before my wife kills me. She has pointed out a couple of times how she misses the sub coming from the back. This coming from someone who never had a sub installed in her car before, haha.

Does the 2 DIN fit just right or do you need a trim piece?

You need the cage and bezel kit ADT-VA133. 2-DIN radios typically do not come with the cage like old single-din. Most new cars have mount kits that screw right into the sides of the radio. This kit is very generic, it will probably work for any 2-din radio without the cage and bezel that is necessary on this car. See the pic, fits like a glove with this kit.

Thanks. I found a local shop that has experience working on high end cars. They gave me a reasonable quote for time and parts and are also installing HID head lights for me.

I don't have the time or inclination to do this type of work.

I have the Pioneer App radio in my Audi A6 4.2 sedan. I absolutely love it. The difference in sound between the factory head unit and the App radio is immediately noticeable. I kept the factory bose amps and speakers along with the factory sub and Man! what a difference. I bought my head unit for $225 in the wholesale district in downtown LA. I too had to by the PAC interface to keep my steering wheel control features. It works flawlessly. Pioneer just released a new App Radio 2. I am going to put one in my CLK430 next week.

Cool, be sure to check back and let us know how it goes. I'm glad to see they came out with a 2.0 model. It's still pretty reasonably priced.

I choose the Kenwood DNX6990 HD instead. I have Garmin navigation in 4 vehicles already. IMHO Garmin has the best nav setups.
The shop had trouble getting the steering wheelk controls operational. I'm going back next week to have HID headlighits installed, they will finish the wheel controls then.

All of that looks right at a glance. I don't have the traffic thing or the steering wheel control boxes. How much did those cost? I think you may want to consider adding a backup camera. The input is generic, so any cheap camera off ebay will work. The easiest thing is to get one that is built into a license plate frame and run the wire through where the license plate lights are. It's not that necessary, but I like it. I also NEED satellite radio, so you might want that box too.

Thank you. Traffic was $75 on the Bay and SWI's are 30-something on Amazon. Does the camera require much wiring? Lived and parked in NYC for 15 yrs, so doubt it would help my parallel parking skills.

I might break down and get the SW controls. The camera is easy, just one RCA video wire and one 16ga wire to the back. The 16ga wire splices to your reverse lights for a back-up trigger signal to your radio, and the camera can also be powered off that wire. The camera will come with the small RCA wire. I bought one for $13.

Are the latest PAC modules basically plug-and-play? I'm wondering if they need splicing like the old one I had in my Pathfinder and Altima, it required some wire tapping and even had to solder some certain resistors in the lines, then go through some programming steps. How are the controls? Volume and track/preset only? I think I'm ready to add this soon.
