Electrical Gremlins..Do I Got'Em??Please Help

This is a good one;
All of a sudden my driver side window switch isnt doing the '1 touch auto-rolldown" and that in itself didn't bother me BUT what did get my attention is now and every time I open or close the drivers door the window drops about 3 inches and the only way to keep it up is to shut the drivers door climb in thru the passenger side roll up the drivers window and shut off the car. If I was to open the drivers door and then shut it with the car off the window will drop down 3 inches again.. any thoughts?? PS the passenger window works fine
BTW my ride is a 2001 CLK55

try resetting the window by turning the key to position 2 with the window up and the door closed. then hold the switch down just before the auto down position till the window is all the way down. then when it gets to the bottom press harder for the auto down and hold for 5 sec. then do the same in reverse.
