Got my Eisenmann today! pic/questions...
Just rec'd my Eisenmann High Performance exhaust today. I really like the way it looks, 2x83mm is the way to go. It sounds great, but I thought it would be a little louder. It's quite a bit louder than stock, but at idle and cruising speeds it's not noticable. (which is a good thing). When you step on, it growls nicely, but not quite as loud as I had expected and the Race would just be too loud for me. The only other reasonable (and available) choices out there were Remus and Renntech and I've heard they are quieter. I will say when I had my wife do a "drive by" it sounded MUCH louder from outside the car!
I do have 2 questions.
First the gap between the top of the exhaust and the bumper is just under 1/2". It seems a little close and was worried this may melt the bumper. Anyone have measurements to compare? Any adjustments I can make?
2nd, man does it smell! When I pulled into the garage I really noticed it. I think it's normal for a new exhaust to smell, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

hey man congrats on the new exhaust!
as far as placement in reference to the bumper, without measuring mine, your picture looks to be exactly the same as the placement of my eisenmann exhaust, mine is also quite close to the bumper, and my bumper is still perfect after about a year (removed the exhaust about a month ago and it was perfect)
as far as the smell, i complained about the same thing, and the smell did last for some time (couple months). the smell will gradually go away, mine doesnt smell at all anymore.
once again, congrats and enjoy!
Eric

Ivan, can you post a picture from the rear straight on, looking stright into the pipe... i just want to compare how close the pipe is the the bumper...
mine sits about the same HEIGHT as yours, but the right exhaust pipe is very close to the bumper.... how close is yours?

the eisenmann is a muffler section only... it is not a cat back exhaust... it would be more like...a resonator back system, which is essentially the muffler.

Congrats Ivan...
I have been waiting for my Race Eisenmann for two months and am still waiting.........................
I had my friend who owns a tuning shop to order the exhaust for me, but he keeps telling me that the Race Eisenmann is in back order... so, im not sure when I will get my exhaust...

mmgrad, here's a pic that's almost straight on. There's quite a bit of room on the sides.

Got it from www.Eisenhaus.com. They had a High Performance on order that had already been built. It took about 3 weeks to arrive.

I wonder if it had anything to do with when my dealer realigned my exhaust system when they changed my catalytic convertor.....

afaik, the 320 exhaust would not require any bumper trim. The 430 doesn't.
After spending a second day with it, I really appreciate the fact that you can easily control the sound level. At startup and idle it's hardly an increase over stock, but when you get on it, it's has a throaty rumble.

Did they have to cut the original pipe?
My AMG exhaust for the 430 had 2 hangers only and didn't require a 3rd one...the OEM didn't have a 3rd one either. Weird...
Have you heard the AMG exhaust on the 430? If so, did you notice a difference?

It's supposed to bolt right on, the clamp is included, but they ended up welding mine anyway. We also noticed that the exhaust only included 2 hangers where as the stock exhaust has 3. They cut the 3rd OEM hanger off and welded it to the Eisenmann for proper support.

the OEM exhaust should only have 2 hangers at the back... at least mine did... there is a 3rd hanger(kinda)... but it is attached on the pipe leading to the exhaust, and its not on the exhaust at all...
see the pic below... to install the eisenmann, you shouldn't have to cut the pipe that far...

I haven't heard the AMG exhaust but I thought people have said it's only a slight increase over stock, where the Eisenmann (high performance) is a very noticable increase when you get on it.

2000 CLK430 & 2000 Expedition on 22's
I just got my Eisenmann exhaust put on 2 days ago on my CLK430. It sounds pretty good. I bought it from Eisenhaus and it took 70 days to arrive. The only thing is it looks very "homemade". Did anyone else notice this on an eisenmann exhaust? I'll get some sound clips up for anyone interested soon.

Btw, what sound level did you get? I'd love to hear some clips of the race on a 430.
