Drivers mirror not setting with memory

I have a 2000 W208 CLK Cabriolet.

For the last couple of days my drivers mirror hasn't been setting when I press the numbered buttons.

I press the memory numbers and the seat and passenger mirror will move to their set position but the drivers mirror will keep moving then hit the limit, keep clicking, then move and set in a funny angle.

If I keep my finger on the button (in this case No1) the mirror after a short pause will continue to move and do the same thing, but never setting in the right position.

Is there a procedure to reset the mirror as all other memory buttons except the 1st work properly?

Sounds like maybe the hall sensor for the mirror motor is faulty. You can do a quick check by swapping the passenger mirror motor over to the drivers side and see if the problem is resolved.

Thanks.

I don't have any tools, so I guess I'll have to book the car in.

Hi Guys,

I was going to take my car to a garage but thought I'd play around with it 1st.

I moved the mirror in the 4 main compass directions and found that when turned West it didn't move close enough to the body and East it moved too far and clicked before full movement occured.

I moved it West again and pushed the mirror manually with my finger to the max angle then did the same for all directions.

At first when I pressed the memory buttons the mirror continued to move as it did before. I then pressed the passenger side and stored the mirror positions and then did the same to the drivers.

I left it a couple of days and all seems to be ok now.

Has this or similar happened to anyone else?

whatsup Pauljay, if you look at the mirror motors there are two legs behinde the round plate that do all the movement, sometimes they comeout of their socket or dirt gets stock in them and it throws the rotation off, its a very easy fix but you do need a remove the mirror lens and use a small hex screw driver to remove the mirror motors and clean them. very easy fix. by the way i know you guys get the folding mirrors on along with a bunch of other cool stuff that we never got. can you pm me i wanted to see if you can help me source a set of auto folding mirrors. thanks.

Hi Ash.

Thanks for the info. If it happens again I'll have the motor looked at.

I thought you guys had folding mirrors. They are a necessity here as our roads can be narrow and when parked sometimes mirrors get clipped!

Pm sent.
