Dealership Service BS or not - Transmission Conduit Seal - Park Detent Sleeve

after sitting for a couple months, my 99 CLK 430 was not shifting properly. I took it in to my local stealership for a top off of Automatic Transmission Fluid - $85.

They came back saying i need to replace my Transmission Conduit Seal - $210 and my Park Detent Sleeve - $645

I am not even sure what they are talking about, for all I know those aren't even real parts or something an outside mechanic would do for $100.

Any thoughts, experience, or advice?

the seal is a 5$ part that can be changed while the tans is being serviced. My indy did mine for 2$ when i had him flush the fluid and change the filter. The only think I can find on the Park Detent Sleeve is that it keeps the selector locked when in park so you cant just pull on it and have it go into gear without pressing the brake first.

how much did your indie charge you to flush the fluid and change the filter?

To replace the park detent sleeve you need to drop the pan and valvebody. It's a pain to replace but if the boot is torn rather than just a minor weaping then it would be all over your driveway and you'd know about the leak!

about 400 for the full flush with the machine using MB fluid and replacing the filter seal and o ring.

I would be surprised if an indie used the larcenous MB fluid. They usually know better.
