clk320 (w208) vs. acura tl (NOT type S)

Just curious. How do you guys think the clk320 (w208) would hold up against an acura tl from a stop light and/or on a freeway, considering the differences in hp, torque, weight, rwd vs. fwd, etc.?

..................Just to save you the energy, the W209 CLk 320's performance numbers are similar to that of a truck. If you like a W209 CLk 320 buy it for the looks and the comfort but not for performance. Without even bordering to check, I will say that the Acura will be faster. A Honda Accord is faster than the W209 CLK320.

.............oops!!! The W208 CLK 320 has a 0-60 time of 6.9 secs the Acura TL is also at 7secs.

Where you see the big difference is in handling and acceleration. The TL is good for 0-to-60 times in seven

Quote taken from this website

Then I checked this website. It states that the TL has a 0-60 time of 8secs. If this is correct then the W208 CLK is faster.

2002 CLK320 Coupe
I recently purchased a '02 CLK320 to replace my '00 Acura 3.2TL. While I really liked the Acura (especially the Navigation system), the CLK320 is in another class. It is more powerful, both from a standing start as well as the 60-80mph range. Its handling is also way better than the Acura. When going around clover leafs (to get onto the freeway), the CLK sticks to the road with no tire noise, while the Acura did not hold the road as well.

Thanks

Thanks jchalmers and Ted. My 99clk320 is actually my very first Benz. I just recently sold my 2000 Honda Civic and bought this car in its place. Its obviously a step up for me, but I can't really say that its all that I expected.

A friend of mine recently bought an Acura TL and it just made me a little curious. I just couldn't stop thinking about how much fun the guy in the Acura television commercial was having driving his TL up a mountain through some very curvey roads.

Thanks for your opinions.
Ahmed, also glad I could help you get your post count up...

Talking CLK Wins!

A while ago, I asked a similar question regarding the CLK 430 vs. the Infiniti G35.

The CLK 320 is a classic, original piece. You can refine it with the best Tuners in the world (Brabus- which can take it to 280hp, Lorinser, Carlsson, AMG and Kleeman just to name a few) to make it faster and look better to your liking.

Also, even as the Japs OUTDO each car they ever made with every New model they make, you have a car that has it's own character and style.

I mean, seriously, folks are we really considering a Honda...ahem..I mean Acura to a Mercedes!? Just picture yourself rolling down Las Vegas Blvd in an Acura...or...Mercedes CLK 320 on 19" Lorinser LM5s! Vegas, baby, Vegas!
The CLK is a classic, and one that can remain in you garage for well over 200,000 miles and still look sweet!

I know it is easy to buy into a commercial (that's what good commercials do) but remember, you are the one in the end who is left 'holding the bag' and making the Payments!

Good luck, but in the end...There IS NO comparison..!
