Kleemann can handle anything you might want to do.
Cheers,

Agreed.
KLEEMANN USA is a couple miles from my house so I go bug them from time to time. They have anything you are looking for.

In case the Kleemann is out of your budget, we make underdrive pulleys for the car which for $499 will add 13hp at the wheels without effecting the engine.

Personally, I would start with suspension first. Changing suspensions on a Mercedes is like buying a new car.

Or.....

ECU tuning, suspension, brakes, ex system etc.

The easiest "bang for your buck" is probably a ECU tune with high flow air filters coupled with underdrive pullies.

Alright, this is getting good. Have a pretty much stock CLK320 and looking to mod it up. I see that most of you have some awesome looking rides so it's nice to get some pointers from those who actually have done these things. I am thinking that some 18 inch rims will be my first mod. I am coming from a '95 Mazda 626 with a hundred and nothing horsepower so this car has all the horsies I need (for now at least). I hate the '99 molding on the bottom so I am hoping to get an inexpensive kit in the near future.

There are 3 options that I would recommend depending on budget and ride-height.

1. Kleemann Suspension - Matched set of springs and shocks. The shocks actually independently adjust to handle various levels of stress placed upon them through soft to aggressive driving. This is what I have on my car, and after testing other kits first, I am happiest with this. $2,065

2. H&R Cup Kit - Lowers the car 2"+, and is also a matched set of springs/shocks. The shocks are normal, and do not adjust the way the Kleemann do. Good ride quality, decent handling, 1/2"+ lower than any other kit available. ~$700

3. H&R Springs w/ Koni Adjustable Shocks - Depending on where you set the shocks, it can be fairly soft to fairly stiff. Moderate drop, 1.5" and great handling. ~$750.

Let me know if you have further questions about either.

I want the best handeling suspension without compromising ride quality. What do you suggest?

Thanks for the info.

KLEEMANN

The suspension is MORE comfortable than the AMG suspension, and by far better handling. Changing from 17" to 19" wheels is by far more of a discomfort than changing to the Kleemann Suspension.

Hey Ben,
How does the Cup Kit or HR & Koni setup affect the ride? Which provides the best handling?

Jeremy,

Dude, how the hell are you going to get your car into your garage with a lowered suspension? man, your driveway scared me even at the stock ride height! j/k thats why you need to come down to charlotte next time.

The cup kit will handle well, but it is not as aggressive as the H&R/Koni combination can (depending on setting) be. The H&R/Koni's on their second setting, will handle better and be about the same level of comfort. The main difference between the 2 kits is their ride height.

Thanks,
Ben

Pilot711,

Judging by your signature, do I see another snowmobiler on the forums? Where do you ride and what sled do you have?

For non performance mods, I would highly recommend Evosport's pre-painted sidemarkers. Get your order in now though, they take a while to get.

Well that is a concern......haha But I'm leaning towards ben's h&r koni setup.....I still think I can get in, just really slow hahaha.
Yeah next time we meet up can be in charlotte....no problem.

Correct me if Im wrong but isn't ECU tuning doesn't have that much effect on the performance number for CLK?

Is high flow air filter = twin square K&N air filter?

Thanks,

I believe Ben has the Kleenmann Speed Sensitive suspension...

btw, if you have a bad driveway situation and don't want that to stop you from modding your car... then mod your driveway... ust repave it...

I would recomend, boring your engine to 6.2 liters, having all new engine parts custom made, tweaking a Kleemann SC for that engine, remapping your ECU, installing a CL600 transmission, installing a chromaly rollcage, gutting your interior, installing carbon fiber race seats, redoing your interior trim in carbon fiber, having custom coilovers made, widening your wheels, rerouting your exhaust through the spare tire well, installing a bodykit (mix and match is preferred), installing 15" Brembo brakes up front and 14" inch brakes in the rear and redoing your headliner in ultrasuede, for starters.

LOL. Sorry, I'm just going crazy cause I know my engine is about to be put together and I've been stuck driving an Audi A6 4.2 for the last year.

Sleestack - can't wait to see your car when its done... and and and... put me 1st in line when you are ready to sell that beast too

Sweet. I have a 2003 Polaris RMK 800 with a 151" track. I primarily ride in Washington & Idaho and sometimes Canada.
