Projector + HID's question??
So about 3 months back I ordered a set of projectors w/ 6k HID's & ballast I believe. I take it to a Indy mechanic to have em installed. I immediately notice the lights are NOT blue whatsoever, After asking if the HID's were installed and assured they were I brush it off because from what I read not HID's are the same.
. . . Fast-forward three months, I'm installing some LED city lights when I happen to see red/black wires coming out of the projector housing neatly coiled up. This prompted me to inspect further for the ballast that is supposed to go with the lights. I find no trace of a ballast.
I go back to my mechanic to find out what happened, long story short, whomever installed them doesn't work there anymore and the owner goes off on a tangent on why they don't install customer parts and that somehow its my fault for not discovering it till now.
I simply wanted to know what happened? Does anyone know if those red/black wires were indeed for the ballast, should I just buy a new set of HID's + ballasts?

I'm in the middle of the change over myself. I installed the 6K HID's and am very happy with the light they project. But the stock city light and the high beam looks very yellow by comparison. Today I replacing the H7 highbeam and the 64132 city light with LED's to try to get closer color match. I need to drop the front bumper again as I can't get the city lights out with the headlights in place? My two extra unused wires in my inside light housing are to power two small LED's that are also there? There are also unused wires to feed the BMW style helo lights that are in each housing. I'm spliting the power to the city lights to wherever I can find hot power with ignition on in the engine compartment so they will work as on all the time daylight running lights. It is a lot of trouple for just some lights.

if they are the thing wires then they are for the halo lights. Ballasts dont have specific wires. whe you buy the ballasts they come with a clip plug that has two thick wires either black and red or blue and red. then you plug those into the black clip that plugs to your low beam bulb then plug the other side to the ballast and from the ballast you have a thick black tube that has two round connecters coming out of the end of it that connects to your hid bulb. the wires that you are refering too are more than likely the wires for the halos.

+1^^ The neatly coiled black and red wires are for the halos on the projectors, I did not install my halo lights either and left them neatly coiled up as you said.

Awe, Thanks for the input guys. I feel like an asshat now. He must have done a stellar job at hiding the ballast itself though because I still cannot find it.
