Just lowered

Hey guys, finally, my car is lowered now. I am using spring pad #1 all around and H&R springs + Koni sport shocks. The eibach sway bars will probably be installed next week.
Personally, I like the drop, it looks cooler compared to the stock height.

Still waiting for the tires (will be put on Brabus wheels, Mono V)
:-(

Thanks guys

Ben: the guy who installed the springs and shocks, set it to the firmest (no.3) cause he said that is what the instruction says.

Danny: i didn't measure the height before and after. the drop is probably around 2 to 2.5 fingers. So, I would say maybe 1.75"...

The ride is not so bad especially on highways, I hardly noticed it. But when it comes to bumpy road, then you will get a slight harsh ride.

I just got hit in the parking lot a couple days ago. The damage is not so bad. Just dent on the trunk and scratches on the rear bumper. The guy hit my car when I was shopping in the grocery store and ran away. :-(
So, while im still waiting for my tires, im going to fix the car. Ill post some pics when my car is done :-)

where did you get eibach sway bars from? I thought they were discontinued or are you referring to the AMG sway bars?

Check with Ben for sure.

Yes, the bars are the same.

It is not necessary to have the shocks set to #3. If you are happy with it, leave it there. Othewise, you may want to try #2 all the way around.

Ben, how does the shock setting affect the performance?
Would the stiffer setting tends to have less body roll than the softer one?

Would the Eibach bars greatly reduce the body roll compared to the stock bars? Im hoping to have the bar installed by next week.

Thanks,

Solihin

Wow, the drop looks good!

Does this mean now you'll have time to ship the COMAND back?

what is the factory spring pad setting? Front 4, Rear 3???
I think I also have spring pad #1 all around, but wouldn't this makes the car sit low in front, high in back?

hahahaha...Im hoping the same too...
Ahmed, did you install the sway bars and the springs at the same time. I was just wondering which one has more effect in reducing the body roll. Eibach bars Vs H&R springs

haha...

i installed the springs first, i kept the shocks stock cause didnt want to sacrifice comfort. Then i realised that although the car was more stable, body roll was still annoying. I use to get alot of understeer too. So after installing the Eibach bars, that problem just disappeared. Thank god!

Ahmed. your running aftermarket springs with the stock shocks? Hows the ride? Won't your shocks wear twice as fast since your lowered with factory shocks? I want to try H & R springs with OEM shocks so bad but I dont want to be changing my shocks once a year.

BTW, how much are the eibach sway bars?

Really looks good! I want to do the same but not sure how it will affect the ride. I read a lot of varying opinions, so it's hard to tell what the real difference will be.

....I installed the H&R springs and Bilstein Sports on my 430 and was still not happy with the handling....although the "tightness" of the suspension had increased....the roll was still about the same......I felt the only benefit from installing the shocks and springs was when I dove into a turn or a long sweeping one. I then installed the front CLK55/Eibach sway and felt the difference right away........under more extreme cornering the car had a greater tendency to oversteer........after installing the rear sway, that sensation was neutralized...if I really liked to drive hard all the time and throw my car around corners....I would upgrade only the fronts and leave the rear stock. I can tell you this......my friends that would ride with me did not notice much after lowering the car; however, once I had the sways installed.....they have all said, "Dude, your car has no lean."
my .02 for what it's worth.

well, my car has done 90K and no problems as far as shocks are concerned. Maybe just the way i drive.. or just plain good luck!

I even upgraded my wheels to 18's and i do get rubbing when i have load in the car, otherwise no problems.
