cell phone conversions

Does anyone know of a way to convert the factory installed analog phone system in the '99 CLKs to accept newer phones. Alternatively, does anyone know the pin assignments on the car - phone jack?

There's no way to do it without replacing the phone kit. You can always upgrade your entire phone kit to the v60 one but you would have to use an MB phone which is $$$. The best solution IMO if you want to stick with an integrated phone is to get the Nokia kit. I think the phone is a 6310 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) which is bluetooth, etc. and you don't need to use a Mercedes branded phone. But if you're simply looking for a way to modify your existing phone kit to work it another phone, it's not possible.

You can install the OEM MB (euro spec) kit for the Nokia 6310 in your car...and it will work with any 6310...
