Ehgine mount busted!!!!

I went into the dealer to check on a loud clunking noise everytime i take off from a dead stop, it was so loud that even if i had my music blasting i can hear it.

I lived with the noise for 3 week till my shifter started to shake....

well, what had happened is the bolts that holds my engine mount on both sides were gone....

I mean literaly, there was like nothing holding up my engine, it was just "setting " there....

I only have 50K miles on it, and I guess I do drive it hard, but for the engine mount to loose the bolt!?!?!?!? I don't think I drive THAT hard!!!!

is this a common problem? has anyone else experience this? It was covered under my extended warranty, but it just makes my wonder about MB quality again.....

Maybe it is time for me to get the S60R......

Engine mounts on Benzes are meant to be delicate, thus they brake, I guess Benz just decided to replace them for free, I asked the shop foreman if my engine mount had broken because of me driving hard and punching the cas all the time, he answered and assured me that , NO, engine mounts don't beake because of my driving. Made me feel better, it hasn't broken again (this happened at 48k miles) on my E55

i hope the engine mount problem is not such a common problem... so this IS(?) covered by MFR warranty, right?

What if the engine mounts go completely, and the engine just drops, will MB designate itself to be responsible?

If both engine mounts brake engine doesn't just fall thru (I used to think the same ), you get very bad vibration, that's all and could potentially damage other components (Don't know which, I didn't ask that to the shop foreman at greenway plaza).

So, yes it is covered under standard and extended warranty, and yes, I do think MB takes responsibility for derived repairs.

Well, I guess this is a common problem, when I heard my clunking noise, I thought my springs had gotten loose and were not setting on the pads properly... So I ignored it... till my shifter became CRAZY!!!! Then I knew something was wrong...

I looked under my car when they had it on the lift, even with the 2 mounts loose, the engine actually sets on the chassis, so it won't drop, but it will viberate violently, when they started my car with the hood up, while on the rack, my engine just JUMPED!!!

I thought it was literaly going to jump out of the engine compartment....

And that's when my service adviser said YUP, definitly the mounts...
