High Revs In CLK 430?
I just bought a 2003 CLK 430 and came out of the break-in period. Just started to ride car hard and am very happy with speed, acceleration and handeling. Its awsome, not as good as my previous Boxster though. I am never-the-less very satisfied. Where the car lacks in performance as compared to the Boxster, it exceeds the Boxster in all other avenues. Is the Mercedes engine built like Porsche where it is perfectly acceptable to run at high revs and to redline durine acceleration without sacrificing the longevity of the engine and transmission? How do the rest of you drive the car, like old people or like you stole it?
Thanks
Thanks

I sometimes drive it hard and bring the rpm to the redline. The engine however, would not let you to pass over the redline. I once put D1 and pushed on the throttle. It reached the red line and then it slowed down. I thought it would change to D2 just like the way BMW and VW do.

Just Do IT!!!
Since I got my engine mount replaced, I've been peeling out of my office parking lot and a few stop lights.
I also take my car to the track about 5 times a year, and runs it very hard.
Don't let a little thing as longivity stop you from enjoying your car, There is always extended warranty....

Definitly, you are still under your factory warranty right?
Just go to your dealer and tell them you are interested in a extended warranty. They should have a couple for you to choose from.
Or you can just do a search on the internet, there are hundreds of companies selling extended warranties. Just be sure to read the fine prints.

xyzpl - extended warranties vary... if your car hasn't passed its 1yr anniversary and you are the original owner, then you qualify for the Mercedes-Benz limited extended warranty... if its over a year or u aren't the original owner, then you qualify for their Diamler-Benz extended warranty... call your dealer and ask the F&I guy/gal for more details....
