Hello I have a 1999 Clk320 conv. Yesterday my top stop working. its not going up or down. What can it be had a MB mechanic check it there are no codes he did a reset and it is still not working. I checked the micro switch in the back got it tested that one is good. Any suggestions what it can be???

- Is the luggage cover closed?
- Are the headrests stuck in the up position? If so, replace the relay.
- Is the trunk closed?
- Are your cylinders leaking hydraulic fluid? If so, PM Top Hydraulics.
- Does the pump have fluid?
- What does the top button light do when you try to start the process?
There's a whole lot more switches than just that 1 that could cause a problem. Methinks it's not a switch issue as those will throw codes. If it's one of the above, search in this forum as these have been discussed to death (there's a stickied thread with a wealth of info on common top probs).

fuse, pump relay or pump itself?
it was a good move to have codes checked. I am not an expert on the interaction of soft top controller and micro switches on W208s or knowing when the switch is supposed to blink on W208s, but hope that the following makes sense based on loads of experience with other MB tops.
If there is no code coming up and your top doesn't move, I would point towards a fuse, pump relay, or pump motor.
- Has the MB mechanic checked the fuse for the soft top pump?
- If the fuse is fine, let's move on to the relay. I don't think a bad relay would show up in the code readout. Can you hear a faint clicking behind the rear seat when you push or pull the soft top button?
- If the pump relay is okay, you may have a problem with the pump motor. A bad pump motor does not necessarily throw a code. Pump motors normally fail mid-cycle or if the relay got stuck closed. In the latter case, you would normally smell something burnt from the motor overheating before failing.
