any of you had that problem? at high speeds, a whistling type sound comes from the airflow over the side mirrors. it makes it sound like u have ur windows cracked a little or something. very high pitched..very annoying. is this something the dealer can fix? or is it just poor engineering....

i have a 99 clk430 by the way..dunno if the new side mirrors have this problem...

i have a 99 clk430 too. never heard any noises coming from my side windows. is the housing cracked?

I also have a 99 CLK430 and my friend has a 2001. Depending on the wind and the speed you are driving, you WILL hear whistling noises coming from the mirrors. Sometimes you can hardly hear it and sometimes, if the wind is strong, you can hear it really loud. This is because the side mirrors do not have a hole in the middle like say the M3 does, they are not "aerodynamic"...

nope..the housing isn't cracked. i think it just has to do with the shape of the mirror....poor design. if i'm doing 80...i notice it alot....but if i open the window and pull the side mirror back (so that it's parallel with the car) the noise stops. i guess it's just the way the wind hits the mirrors at high speeds. i was hoping the later years improved upon the mirrors so that i could have them switched out under warranty....

i guess my stereo is always on too loud for me to notice any wind noises coming from the mirrors or im just becoming deaf.
