Starting problem!!!

Okay so every once in a while, especially when the car is warm, it hesitates before starting. Meaning after I click the key to the right, the car will just sit there and try to start, but will take a good 4-5 seconds to 'catch'.

So today I started the car after it sitting for a week and it fired up like a champ. Went to the video store (4 mile drive) and when I came back out, the car was doing it again, except this time it didn't catch, tried again, nothing, and 3x more times, nada! Gave it time to contemplate starting, and on the 6th try it started. Any idea WTF is going on??

I had a similar problem, dealer said the starter pinion needed greasing. Haven't had a problem since they'd greased it. The symptoms I had were on turning the key, the starter intermittently wouldn't even crank the engine over, i.e. even no starter motor noise. This would happen either once, twice or three times when trying to start the car. Envariably, the car would start OK.

Had a starter problem before and the problem was the battery. I don't take my car out to the freeway much so maybe the batter doesn't get recharged as often as regular cars. Have you had your battery for a while? What is the life on batteries anyways?

YOu gotta love this board. One question/problem, four different solutions. {rebuild starter, starter pinion, fuel pump and battery}
Best bet is to take it to the dealer.
