430 Compared to CLK55

I have been looking for a clk55 and was just wondering how big the difference is between the 430 and the AMG. Certainly a lot more 430's around than the amg models. So is it worth the effort? Is ther a huge difference in feel?

I test drove a CLK 430 first, then I heard about the CLK 55 and test drove one. I never though twice about a 430 again after that. Given the price differential (not much), if you want te extra power (or think you will), just go for the AMG - it's beefier, has better resale, and gets you exclusive membership in the AMG Owners Club.

If you just want a daily driver you can beat on and want to save a couple thousand on purchase, the 430 is a cheap route.

Well I never even drove the 430. Flew to Minnesota Saturday and picked up an 02 clk55 and drove it 400 miles back to Chicago. Car is amazing on the road with endless power. Pics soon.

You made the right choice...

The 430's lack that down low grunt, the sound, the rumble or the soul of the 55. Had I been the product mgr for MB 10 years ago, there never would have been a CLK430. It would have been CLK320 and CLK55 only.

That being said, I really like my 430 Cab for what it is (and what it was for it's time)... a beautiful 4 seat, well engineered convertible in the $15,000 and under category... With enough power to stay out of it's own way.

Enjoy your ride wrightbenz!

CLK55 / E350 Coupe
Once you go AMG its hard to go back.

Looking to pick up another AMG fairly soon here. Endless power is bliss.

Yesterday an Evo X with all its expressive badges, big wing, ducks where ever imaginable and all those fun noises it makes. Long story short all i needed to do was press the gas and lay back in my comfy heated chair.... amazing what this 10 year old car can hold up against.

Hope you have fun with it!
