Lowered CLK, but still way to high

Got myself a decent w208 230 Kompressor a few months ago, picked up a cheap Sachs Performence suspension kit with Vogtland springs, new in box, but been lying on the shelf for ages.

Anyway, did the fronts and it looks good on 18" Aero IIs, but the rears just looks stupid. Thought they would set after a few weeks, but not really.

Thought about getting a set of Eibachs, and at least swap the rears, Anyone else had problems with Vogtland? Can measure the gap tomorrow, from wheel centro to arch.

cant be much help on the springs but, I love the color of your CLK and that 190 is sick!!!

Did you check to see if the springs were for a cab or something?

99CLK320,
I put Vogtlands on my car and they took about a month or more to settle down. the ride is a little stiffer than I would like but I can live with it. the oem spring pads were #5 front and #3 back so I went to 3 in front and 1 in back. the back didn't come down as much as I wanted. I have even thought about going to no pads in back but believe the pads are there for a reason and don't think I want to go metal on metal. Others here have gone to no pads and have no complaints. These rubber perch shims vary in thickness from 8 TO 23mm. Give your springs a little more time. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I think Eibachs are progressive rate spring. Vogtland are not. May not be a good match to replace the back with Eibach only.

Thanks, could perhaps be cab springs. I think i checked the part number stamped on the rear springs, and it matched the correct number on Vogtland website.

Im on the thinnest pads on the rears right now, and i wouldnt mind another 20mm drop, too much of a hot-rod stance right now.

But ill think go with the Eibachs, both frond end rear then.

Thank you

I got 3 sets of Vogtland for my 190 and they were never the right ones even thought the part numbers showed they were.

Kinda have the same problem on my cab with Eibachs -- my rears are a half inch higher than the fronts and the passenger side is slightly higher than my driver's side.

Probably going to go with H&Rs since they get you lower all around for a slightly firmer ride.

it will take 4 weeks to settle on any springs.. again depends on the drop.
some are 2 inch in front and 1 and half rear. check it again and like what dlbehrns, u can swap the rear pads as well to make it lower

Its actually been a full years since i installed them, im also on no. 1 pads, so unless i remove them, it wont be getting any lower.

But ill see if can get a set of H&R or Eibachs in the near future

I'd recommend H&R if you're looking for a more lowered look.

Eibach is too conservative for me and looks too OEM for me.

Looks like its H&R then, they are more expensive in europe for some reason, compared to for example Eibachs, which were around $180 (Pro-kit was a few dollar more then the Sportline) Sportline should according to Eibachs website, give you an 45-50mm drop front and 30mm rear and the Pro-kit a 30mm drop front and rear.

Anyone here fitted the Eibach Sportline springs?

H&R is about $225 (=29749-1

STOP STOP !!! Dont go waisting your money on new rear springs to just being the back down. You are happy with the front I take it , but the back is too high I have the same car and had the same problem when I installed Eibachs that the back was too high. You have normal springs, so why dont you either take half a turn off the coil at the top ( not bottom) with the number one pad and see, Thats whay I did with my Eibachs as the back was still not low enough. The rear coild are dead easy to remove by removin one bolt on the arm and using a jack to lower it down. If you dont like the idea of cutting half a turn off your coil then just remove the pad, I also have no rear pads and its been fine for 3 years.!

Measured the distance from center of wheel to arch, got 355mm, thats on 18" Aero 2s 235/40" on the rear. I know this is the wrong size, should be 255/35
