high idle at startup and consistent

I was told today that i needed a new throttlebody......and it costs 1000 new and 100 dollars to put in

i see used ones on ebay for like 1-200

anyone try these before? is it worth it to try....????????????

I do not even know if this will solve the problem...................... I know its putting more pressure on my tranny but what can i do?

Is the throttle cable binding?? It has a ball and socket type fitting and can sometimes get bound up (due to not being lubed during service) and cause the throttle to stick. The cable is located by the brake master cylinder. Make sure its not bound/stuck causing the sensor to relay the info to the throttle body to be open

Daft questino perhaps, but when was the last time you cleaned the throttle body? it could be gunged up under the flap. ?

2001 clk throttlebody/ ecu fail

the idle at startup goes up to 3-4000. it stays a tad elevated while driving. It also revs higher when going into gear, rev, etc. idle also seems to fight me when braking also....

i had a mechanic look at it and he cannot connect to the ECU, what to do?????????????????????????????????
