Engine Code 0446 Question

Hi Guys,
I am failing nys inspection with code 0446.
I have searched the forum and see the code listed and have read a few posts but am having trouble locating where on my Steffie to locate the parts to troubleshoot/repair/replace, she is a 02 clk 320 cabriolet.
Should I be looking at the right rear wheel well beneath the fender skirt?
The posts I have read were for different models so I have already looked under the rear spare tire in the trunk and in the engine compartment with no luck.
Any additional tips would also be welcomed, once I locate it I am looking to check for damage to the hose line, clean the sensor, check wires are intact...

Sorry for the just questions post but I'm in a frenzy, I will introduce you all to my Steffie girl after...she's a pretty pretty girl )
Thanks A Bunch !
Dee

Hi,
Thanks for your reply, yes I understand what the possible problems may be. My question is more to narrow down where the charcoal canister is located on my vehicle, in the left side rear or right side rear wheel well?
Thanks
