Sub in 2000+ CLK

I want to install a sub into my factory head unit. Does anyone know how I can do this? I heard something about benz's using fiber optics for their speakers? Is this true? How would I get past this. Thanks.

the entire system is not fiber optics, just some of the connections from the headunit and the CD changer. if you just tap into the rear existing bose speakers, its just like installing a sub to any other existing system. no problems at all. plus with the power source in the back (battery), you can use thinner gauge wire, making things even easier....

Petie.....even though the power source is in the back, the altenator is still up front. Therefore, would one need to upgrade the wire from the altenator for the battery that is associated with recharging the battery?

sorry, stereos are not really my thing, i know that the wire from the alternator to the battery was not upgraded on my install, but i also only running about 500 watts to a single sub. on bigger installs perhaps there is a need for this upgrade, but i really have no idea, sorry.

You don't need to upgrade the wire between the alternator and the battery. Another option for adding subs is a line level converter that converts your speaker wires from you stock tape deck to rca's. Then you can hook up an aftermarket amplifier for you subs and if you like also use the aftermarket amp to run the rest of your speakers. This way you can still have the stock head unit.
