Steer clear of this one!

Hi Guys,

Not sure if many of the community are from the UK, but if so and you are looking at a CLK, I would seriously stay away from this one!

It looks great in the pictures, but in person it tells another story.

The car is plagued with rust, the variable timing system is on it's way out and the car is sounding like a diesel, the SRS system is malfunctioning, the roof is not working and the parts to the blind are missing (the sales person bodged the switch in front of me with a wheel nut to try and get it working!), all wheels are badly kerbed, and the brakes are on their way out.

I had a chat with the dealer about the car after looking round and testing, he would not agree to fix any of the faults (his tech had already looked at the SRS system and couldn't figure out the problem) and said that he would not move in price. He then told me I was 'too fussy' and that someone else would see it and buy it.

Their whole attitude to be honest stank, I would steer clear if I were you.

The sad thing is, someone else will probably buy it for what they want. Definitely not worth it though

It s a shame, as the car could be nice, but needs a whole new rear quarter as the rust has spread the metal on the arch and forced it all down (it just falls off in your hand), it's also worked it's way onto the outside of the pannel and under the fuel cap from inside, and then the variable valve timing issue needs to be looked at, which isn't any small job on a 230k, I hear Mercedes charge around £1000-£1500 to resolve the issue. Add to that sourcing parts for the roof, sorting out the alloys, fixing the SRS issues and brakes and a service and you are looking at the same cost of the car again
