Bumper Scratch

As I was walking away from my parked silver 1999 CLK 430 today (mostly just admiring it - it turns heads - mostly mine :-) ) I noticed a white mark on bottom right side of the bumper.

It's a sizeable mark but hard to see (probably because white is so close to silver). I'm still trying to figure out how it got there - my guess is that I might have scraped it on a concrete block in the parking lot. :-/

Anyways - suggestions on how to get rid of it. Can I fix it myself? Any idea on how much it'll cost me to get fixed at a bodyshop?

I'll try to take some pics of it.

thanks.

Yeah, definitely take some pics so we can see the extent of the damage.

If you have a good detail shop you should be able to polish it out if its not to major. I had a guy clip the back end of my car and scuffed the paint pretty good but they were able to buff it out.

it totally depends on how big/deep the scratch is..... and how obvious it is...

if it is low enough to not really get too much attention... you can buff it out urself and add a little touch up paint. if it is deep, which hitting a concrete block can cause deep scratches, and even cracks, then it may take a little more work..

how much does a replacement bumper (just this particular part) cost for a CLK 430?

There are a fair number of rock chips (very small and hard to see) in my front bumper as well. If a new bumper is reasonable enough I may just opt for that option.

thanks.

The damage is not that bad. I'm sure you can have a body shop smooth it out and put a new coat of paint on it. But, if you do decide to replace it, I'll buy that one off of you.

its not worth replacing for that kind of damage... it would cost you over a thousand dollars just for the front bumper..

2001 CLK 320
It will cost about $250.00 - $350.00, for some filler and repaint.
