Question 2003 CLK's...

I was really close to getting the 2002 CLK 430. However, I'm having second thoughts about getting it because of the new shots of the 2003 CLK. I think the new design looks horrible, the back look so dumb. I think it has a Volvo coupe look to it, which isn't good. Don't get me wrong, those Volvo's aren't bad, but the current CLK design is just beautiful. The new body style in those pictures take the "muscle/powerful" look away from the car, now they make it look purely like an elegant little girl's car. Back to my point, do you guys think I should still get the 2002 even though they are changing the model. I WILL NOT get the 2003 model, but do you think the difference in the 2003 CLK will be really noticeable...I mean, having a car from the last year isn't bad, but I don't want to get it the year before they change. Thanks for your opinions in advance.

I think that is a smart decision.

Get a MB starmark certified 2001 CLK430 w/ Command for 38K in July/August w/100 k warranty and skip the next generation CLKs.

If you are planning on keeping the vehicle jump in and get yourself a 2002. If you aren't sure, get a starmarked as mentioned above and place a deposit on the new one. Usually these deposits are only $1,000 and fully refundable. Therefore if the model comes out and it looks great (which it might- HOPEFULLY) you would have the option of getting into the 2003 w/ out losing your shirt on the 2001. (which has absorbed its largest depreciation in its 1st 2 years.)

When I bought my 2002 430 I had a 2001- the dealer gave me the first spot on the 2003 if I traded up. At that point I felt the new one could only get better as it would be a 500. I have to admit the photos so far haven't exactly blown me away but I am hoping that upon release we will all be pleasantly surprised. But if not, you have the choice to keep your vehicle. Remember, regardless what we think about the vehicle, people are still going to line up when they see the "baby CL". The only risk you take by giving a deposit is the float on $1,000 for 6-9 months. I don't know about you but my money market account isn't outpacing inflation!!!!! Either way, any clk is going to make you happy. These are phenomenal machines. If the "new" one isn't your taste you will be so happy you got your hands on a low mileage 2001. Again, my 2 cents.

I couldn't have put it better than Benzo.

Next best thing to seeing the new CLK in the flesh, will be its debut.

This will be next week at the Geneva Auto March 7-17. Many new pix will be
shown & the car magazine reviews will follow shortly.

Gentlemen, start your engines... or hold your horses...and/or your breath?

Deposit

Be sure to double check that any deposit is, in fact, fully refundable. In my area, some dealers will not refund deposits. MB Manhattan, on the other hand, will allow you to change your mind at the point of delivery. They, however, are the only dealership in the U.S. owned by the factory.
