Remote Key Battery Type
I think my remote key is getting a little weak. Anyone know what type and size battery it requires? If it is supposed to charge the key when it is in the ignition, it doesn't seem to be working very well.

and no, the key's battery does not recharge itself in the ignition... sad, but true... the BMW keys however do recharge itself in the ignition... but, anyways....

Thanks Scorchie.
The battery doesn't recharge by itself, but it should last very long right? What if suddenly my remote key is dead and I could not open the door?
THanks,
Solihin

Thanks for the info.
I also have a 330ci - I guess that's where I got the whole charge in the ignition thing - it's a shame the Merc doesn't have that feature.

The smartkey has a transponder in it, or it works via inductance (I may be confusing it with BMW as well), so it does not need a battery to work in the ignition.
I'm getting the smartkey introduction info soon so I will know the real story on all these battery/programming issues.
