1999 CLK 430 with 136000 miles

I have an opportunity to purchase one of these cars, I own an E420, should I look for similar problems as the E420 with this car, or does this car have different problems that plague it. Thanks for your help.

most of the folks on here will tell you to use the search function. if you go to advanced you can search specifically in the w208 section

I have had my 2001 430 for 6 years and now have 162,000 miles on it. Besides regular maintenance, the engine has only given me trouble once, and the fix was a new MAF sensor.

Electrical gremlins are another prominent issue. my power seats work in mysterious ways. sometimes they work, sometimes they won't, sometimes the only way they move is by hitting one of the memory settings.

And tires. mother of god the tires! the stock rear camber eats through tires like nobody's business. I'm not sure if ghostrider still makes his custom adjustment kit, but if you can find one buy it!

That's about all I have for ya. Might consider posting a link to the 430 you are considering for further advice. Good luck

Price seems high considering salvage title. Was it repaired properly? And by a reputable shop?

CLK 430
I would not reccomend paying that for a 99 with that many miles that is salvage. Around here they go for 6 with clean titles. I feel if you wait a bit you will find a much sweeter deal especially in your area where cars are abundant. I have found some sweet deals down there in the summers. Also if it needs solely rear tires, its probably been beat on and done many burnouts, treated like a mustang.

have to agree with everyone else. I'd guess that my 2001 with clean title is worth about as much as they are asking for a '99 with salvage.

Also, I don't know your financial situation but if you can wait and find a 55 I doubt you'd regret it. I know I wish I had one

Thanks to everyone for the tips, I will pass on this car, I found a couple CLK 320's for sale, but have my heart set on the 430 or the 55. I currently have an E420, so I'm not without a Benz.
