Currently selling my w208, had it since December of '99. Everything has held up well. Still drives great, doesn't feel like a 12 year old car. Unfortunately you won't find too many budget friendly mods for our car. Aftermarket companies need to make and sell a lot of something for it to be inexpensive, and there just aren't enough people modding w208's for that to happen. Be patient, keep your eyes out for good deals, and snap them up when you see them.

CLK W208
I'm going stronger than ever as i'm not planning on ever selling this car. I just converted my CLK 320 to a CLK 55 and i dont mean cosmetics i mean actual engine and trans. so i guess you can tell how much i love this car. i agree with josh K there isnt much budget friendly mods available for these cars.

since i have you guys on my post and when i do my research some of the threads are over 10yrs old.

can you guys point me in the right direction to do some diy mods to my 98 clk 320.

i already have put on an intake. i am trying to find v6 headers and what is a decent exhaust to put on our clk? can a universal exhuast do just fine. ive seen post of someone modding a v8 headers to fit the v6. should i do that as well?

direction my friends is greaty needed. i live in a world where people only deal with hondas mitsubishi toyotas, they look at my car like deers looking at headlights or the thousand yard stare!!!

SL 400
I love my 430. I drive it daily. It is and was my dream car since it was first released. The style of the car is unmatched. I knew when I first saw one I would own it one day. I will keep this car until it litterly cant be driven anymore. People still give me the "nice ride" at gas stations like its a 2013.

With 129k on it, 13 years old and it driving like it just came off the showroom floor just makes me happier that I have it. Do I have to repair things sometimes? Yes. Do I wish I didnt? Yes.

I have owned
Bmw 325 & 318
VW jetta
Nissan maxima x 2
Honda accord
Porche 944
Ford mustang gt
Ford Expedition
Lincoln Aviator
Lexus RX
Katana 600
Cbr 600
Gsxr 600

And currently I have a ML 350, C240 and the 430. I have had to do repair work on every single vehicle on my list at some point or the other. Some more than ithers. Eeach one provides great memories when I think back to the time I had them.

None of them compares to m CLK. NONE! I love my car and my car loves me! Does she get mad at me sometimes? Yes. Do I get mad at her sometimes? Yes. It is still my baby though! Laugh at loud

2001 Mercedes Benz CLK 430 Coupe
Me and DAWWG are the same here. The day i got married back in 2001,I had an 89 mustang notch. This was out newlywed car and when I saw my first CLK of that year I was hooked. All I could say was simply beautiful. My wife will never understand how us guys feel about our cars or cars in general. Mine is 13yrs old, looks almost brand new(minus the rock chips in the paint),drives like a dream, and is soooo damn sexy to look at. I have driven it to two meets since I got it and for some reason draws a small crowd.

to-VIP=how hard was it to do your swap as I am also looking at this for my future mod list?

Moved onto other cars long ago but was never able to part with my w208. I don't drive it enough to justify keeping it around though. I'll definitely miss her. Great car.

what about dropping the clk350 in the 320? CLK 350 features a 3.5 L, 24-valve dual overhead cam (DOHC) V6 engine and a seven-speed automatic transmission. the newer models seem leaner so if its a question of space or no.

Angry

Because you have a 1998-2000 your car is what Benz calls ME 2.0. And that will prevent you from running any of the newer motors or trans. Your only option is to do what I did which is change your complete body harness, gauge cluster, ecu, TCU, shifter. You ask why? To reasons the newer motors run a 2.8 can is system which there are less connections which means that one wire carries multiple signals and they get decoded in the canbuses across the car. Second reason is that your car came with ASR( anti slip regulation) the later models of ME 2.0 came with ESP(electronic stability program) only afteraugust 1999 to late 2000. These were still ME 2.0 but had ESP but their harness is still different because there is lateral YAW sensor and another one in the trunk and on the first version of ESP these sensors were seperate but after 2001 they came as an individual sensor. So there were 3 types of body harnesses on the CLKs, 1. ME 2.0 with ASR, 2. ME 2.0 with ESP and 3. ME 2.8 with ESP. You have what I had te ME 2.0 with ASR. So you have to change all the above stuff that I mentioned plus your ABS pump, regulator, master cylinder and your ASR computer to an ESP. Yes I did all that in order to do my 55 transplant an I built a 100% true and genuine 55. If you are gonna do all that work do a 55 a 350 is just not worthed. Changing body harness took me 3 days so that give you and Ida of how much work is involved. But mine runs like a champ and I have no lights or warnings on and it runs perfect. Hope that was helpful.

CLK 320
Newbie, first post: I just purchased my first MB, a 1999 CLK 320 with 61K miles. I LOVE THIS THING! To be honest, it's my hobby car and will spend most of the rest of it's life in the darkness of my garage, venturing out on sunny days, only. The rest of the time I'll motor around in my 2005 Prius. I enjoy reading the posts on this blog and happy to be part of the community.
