What is this button/sensor?

What is this and what does it do? Seems like a proximity sensor but doesnt function. Little grey square to right of lock.

It's what you point your remote on your key fob to roll down your windows and open your sunroof when standing outside of your off Mercedes.

Point directly at it, press unlock and keep the button pressed down. Windows and sunroof will open. Have to have it dead on and you have to keep it held down.

Take care.
