Bose Door Speaker Sizes

Did a quick search and couldnt find the answer, got tired of looking....

finally up for replacing all of the factory Bose junk in my CLK. i know the rear subs (if they can be called that) are 6.5, so im just going to drop some coaxial 6.5s back there. looking for a single 2-way component system so that the tweets can go where the bose tweets are, but i need to know what size the two sets of speakers are in the door. for now im just going to put one set of speakers down there instead of two, dont think i need that much in a small car. was looking for the same size speakers as the Bose ones to keep the install simple. i was hoping that at least one of those speaker pairs are 5 1/4". that would make things easy. but if anyone knows or can tell me where to look, itd be appreciated. TIA.

Eric

Alright, here is the complete list of speakers in W208 CLKs:

2 tweeters 50mm (2") top of door
2 mid-range 165 mm (6.5") bottom front door
2 mid-range 90 mm (3.5") bottom rear door
2 sub bass 165 mm (6.5") in rear deck

Hope this helps.

If it's anything like the W210's the rear speakers might pose the biggest problem. Replacing the front door speakers was cake.

dont know how it is in the E, but in the CLK, the rear 6.5s are mounted on the rear deck, and can be seen through the trunk. because of this, i dont see why anything aftermarket couldnt just hang down into the trunk a bit if need be, theres nothing in the way. i really wanted to put Alpine Type-R throughout my car, as i have been extremely impressed with their stuff and already have a sub, but i may just go with MB Quart because their speakers are not as deep and you definitely cant go wrong with their quality.

not sure, would like to know for sure how much room i have in there so i can make a decision based on actual room and not how much room i think i have.

i'm glad to hear you are gonna give MBQuart a try.

as for the rear deck speakers, the stock speakers right now face the trunk. They are not like typical rear deck speakers, because those on the CLK are actually wanna-be subs. Therefore, the part that faces the car's cabin is the magnet, and the part that faces inside the trunk is the speaker cone itself.

you probably want to install regular woofer or something in there, right? In that case, yes, you can install them with the magnet hanging from the bottom, it won't look very pretty, but will be very effective.

I hear that you can actually install woofers/speakers with the magnet facing up/cone down (like the way it is now), and just reverse the wiring so the cone reacts in the opposite way/direction. Is that true?

In the CLK convertible, does anyone know the size of the woffer located in the rear (in the midle of the rear seats) and how to reach it?

I replaced the front components with the MB Quart Q-series 6.5" component set. They dropped in perfectly. I disconnected the small 3.5" speaker in the rear of the door. I also dropped in the 6.5" Q Serires component set in the rear. The rear stock 6.5" subs are pretty complicated to get out.

Sorry to bring this thread back again.

Do you know the complete list of speakers in the W209 CLKs? I'm looking to replace my bose speakers with Focal Utopias but I don't know which Utopia setup I need.

Thanks.

What's the price range for having this done and if anyone has done this did you notice much change in the quality of sound output? Also is there anyplace in the Washington DC area that does this kind of work. I would hate to go to some place like Best Buy/C.City and have some kid mess my car up.
