Newest Minor Mod... I'm very excited... 1st in the US?
Ok... Since the original thread was deleted due to server problems... I'll try and repost what I remember...
Well, my mod is minor, but I rather like the results of it. I haven't seen anyone else here in the Forums with this mod, so I will assume that I am the first...
Its basically a Shift Knob upgrade... Of course, being the Picture Post *****, I will post several pics along with it....

2nd Shift Knob - Charcoal Leather (S/CL Class OEM Shifter)
This was an improvement in feel and looks, but it didn't quite match

3rd Shift Knob - Wood & Leather Combo Shifter (S/CL Class OEM Shifter)
I liked the Wood & Leather look and feel, but the color was really off. But I kept it because I liked the feel.

My 4th Shift Knob was a MOMO Carbon Fibre with Chrome F16 Shift Knob.... but I never installed it, and ended up selling to Eric, so maybe he'll post pictures of the MOMO knob......
So, that leaves the following to be my 4th Shift knob.
It is a:
Designo Chrome w/ Leather Shifter & Leather Boot..... I LOVE IT!!!

If you're ever willing to give up some info as to where, how much please let us know..
Even though I'd probably forget where every gear was

Hi all, Thanks for all your compliments. I love the look & feel of my new shift knob too...
Btw Frank, I have more knobs at home... hehe, oh and it looks a little weird because we're just not used to seeing CLKs with the boot. This is actually a Euro shifter found on cars like CLK200/230 Kompressors with a Manual tranny.
Not only does the boot look good (IMO), but it also offers a safety function over the original shifter. Since the boot covers the entire tranny shifter, you don't have to worry about spilling drinks onto the shifter... now all spills will go around the shifter itself, saving the hassle of shorting those electronics...
In terms of acquiring one of these units, I bought 2 when I got mine, so I have an extra one left, Brand new. They retail for about $160-200 from the dealer, but since they no longer make the W208 CLKs, these are quite in short demand.
I was going to keep the 2nd as a back-up in case I ever break it, but if someone here wants it, best offer takes it. Oh, the one I have left has the manual tranny numbers on the top cover instead of the Designo top... see picture for reference... PM me if you are interested...
cl_kruisin - thats my V1 radar concealed display unit... that way, cops don't see it flashing behind me, nor do I have to look to the top of my windshield to look at the radar unit itself.

white and whiter
the reason I said it looks out of place is because the edge of the boot seems not fitted properly; it's sticking out. Shouldn't the edge of the boot goes under the wood or have some other trim around it?

the boot does tuck underneath the wood, and there are anchoring clips on the bottom of the boot frame that anchor to the wood panel.
this is a pic from the bottom side:
