Whats the fastest you've driven..

Just curious as to what kind of drivers we have here in the CLK forum...

So, how fast have you taken the CLK on the street (includes highways, expressway, freeway, etc...) and on the track?

For me:
Street: 120 mph
Closed track: Zero, never been to a track

you are welcome to include other cars outside of the CLK, but it has to be a street legal car...

CLK on highway = 135-140 (because it was 6AM on Sunday)

Other notable street legal rides
E55 on highway = 160 (testing VMAX removal)
E55 on track = 160+
360 Modena on highway = 150 (still accellerating but running out of road)
575M on highway = 160 (same as above)
Acura Legend on highway 145 (still accellerating until I saw CHP behind me)
911 GT2 on track 165+
Too many race cars to list.

The best ride at speeds over 140? The E55. It was quieter, smoother and relaxing. The Porsche followed by the 2 Ferraris were the most intense, white knuckle experiences I've ever had. Probably because they weren't mine!

My E55
on the freeway at 159 mph (hit the limitter)
on the track 125 mph (Texas Motor Speedway, mb-bob and yodabenz were with me)

On a 1999 Corvette we used to have 178 mph on the freeway.

Re: Whats the fastest you've driven..

On my SLK230: 145mph freeway for a LONG time

On my CLK430: 135-140mph freeway

On my E55: 130mph...afraid to go faster during break-in period. 100mph @ 3000rpm.

I hit 82 once in my Mustang. It was pretty close to pegging the speedo, so I backed off.

been fast in numerous Ferrari's (355, 360, 456, 512, 575) on the Autobaun in Germany, but i obviously wasnt driving.

Thanks but being me has a steep pricetag. My vices are few but costly. They include fine machines like fast cars, boats and airplanes that often get me into a heap of trouble. It also includes 2 trips to the facility for reckless driving. Got out of the first one but the second one (the Acura) cost me a bundle. The cop had been chasing me for 15 miles. Honestly, I didn't see him. They had the spike stips all set to go when I spotted him WAY back in the distance. He was all over the radio calling all the support he could get. The DA was on too and took a personal interest. $4,000 fine plus attorney costs, 40 hours public service and 3 years probation. Insurance dropped me. Wife wouldn't come near me for a month!

It sure was fun while it lasted!

by the way, for all those who have gone past 135 in non-///AMG cars, did you guys mod your ECU or something? I thought standard MBs have speed limiter at 135?
