Good non-mercedes extended warranty experiences?

Hi my car is nearing the 50k mileage mark and looking at this forum, reading the various issues... I concluded that it's a good idea to shop for an extended warranty.

What are some of the experiences member had with them? and are there any out of pocket $ that are hidden from all the fancy advertisements? Any positive experiences?

My friend said that in California where we pay mechanics at rate of $90+/hr, I would have to pay the difference that the warranty doesn't cover. Which in most cases is less than $90/hr. Did anyone do that?

Thanks

i believe there is an mb warranty from DaimlerChrysler that you can still buy as long as the original warranty hasn't expired yet.

if you are interested, I can get you more info.

Oh really? I thought the original MB warranty is only available within a year of purchase of the car new.

Is this the same as the Star Mark thing they offer?

thats what most people think... there is actually another warranty that exists.

this is the DaimlerChrysler or DaimlerBenz warranty, its a little more expensive, but it offers a few better options.

Pros of the DC/DB warranty:
- Can be purchased anytime before original warranty expires
- Can be purchased by anyone, not just the original buyer
- Before this extended warranty expires, you can extend the extended warranty 1 more time
- It actually covers OEM electronics like Stereo/Nav-COMAND, and maybe Phone

But, the longer you wait to buy this warranty, the more it will cost. And the higher the mileage, the higher it will be also. I think the price is about $1,000 more than the MB Premium Limited Extended Warranty.

and NO, these are both different from the StarMark warranty. Starmark warranty is just 1 extra year/100,000 mile warranty for their certified used vehicles. But, if you buy a certified used vehicle with StarMark warranty, you can extend that one another 1, 2 or 3 years, for a total of 8yr/100,000 miles.

Hope none of this was too confusing...

Check with your F&I manager at the dealership...

Or you can call Lisa from Courtesy motors... she is the one that faxed me a copy of the specs for the warranty, and it looks good.
