Normal oil consumption?
Hi Guys
I've recently changed jobs and I now travel a lot for my work.
I can use a hire car or use my own car and claim mileage allowance etc so I do the latter as I want to enjoy the drive that I do regularly as its a 370mile round trip each week through some lovely roads along the coast.
However i've noticed that because I do more miles now, I am using oil, I had to top up a litre (about 1.75pints) after about 5 weeks of travelling which was a total of about 2500 miles in that time. My question is, is this normal? Before, when I only drove about 12K miles a year I would maybe only top up a pint in the whole year. Now I do about 25K annualy.
I also made a rush decision yesterday and added some engine stop leak, but after reading the forums have realised that all this does is swell the rubber seals and is not a good idea, so this weekend I will be draining the oil and refreshing.
On a positive note, our CLK's on long journeys are such a great tourer car and I enjoy every mile of the journey !

With my high mileage (270k) I burn about a quart of oil every thousand miles. I replaced the valve cover gaskets. But it still burns about the same like clock work. I just always top her off when needed.

With 190,000 miles I usually burn through a quart or two every 5000 miles. Like OG I usually just top it off. I get an oil change around 8-10,000 miles since its ~$100 each visit.

99CLK320,
I put some drilled Brembos on my 320 honsestly think they are a waist of money. They are noisy when really lay on them but thats with Porterfield R4Ss pads. Honestly, I had better brake feel with the stock rotors and pads. I like the fact that the black dust is reduced by 95% but thats it.
